Effelsberg integration

For integration with Effelsberg, the following is required:

• Development of an SCPI server capable of communicating with the telescope control system
• Development of converter bewteen BRAND backend format and Effelsberg FITS writer format

It is the recommendation of the Backend Development group to adopt the SPEAD protocol for all data transmission out of the BRAND backend. Information relating to the protcol can be found here: https://casper.ssl.berkeley.edu/wiki/SPEAD.

For an example of the SPEAD item formatting used for data transmission at Effelsberg, the reader is referred to the ICD for the Effelsberg Direct Digitisation system (see attached).
